Matrix Preparation

5. Fit the matrix onto the patrix, block out the undercuts, apply a thin coat of wax around the sides and seal the drill hole of the retention part.
 
6. After duplicating, prepare the casting pattern as usual, but leave out the patrix area from moulding. Shape a load distribution clasp to the patrix' milling.
This pattern can be designed closed (figure 7a) or open (figure 7b) at the buccal side.
 
7. Cast and prepare the casting pattern as usual. Fit the load distribution clasp to the patrix' milling. For electrolytic polishing protect the underside of the clasp by covering with wax.
Set the matrix with inserted metal pin onto the patrix and apply wax around it. Set the casting pattern into place and connect both by use of acrylic.
The matrix is retained mechanically in the denture acrylic.
